Requirements

The work permit in Spain allows foreign nationals to work legally in the country. This authorisation can be either employed (work for a company) or self-employed (freelance work).

In order to apply for a work and residence permit in Spain, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Legal residence. The applicant must be legally in Spain or in his/her country of origin.
  2. Job offer. For authorisation as an employee, a job offer from a Spanish company is required.
  3. Professional qualifications. The applicant must have the professional qualifications required for the job.
  4. Financial means. In the case of self-employment, the sufficiency of the planned investment and the viability of the project must be accredited.
  5. Criminal record. No criminal record in Spain or in the previous countries of residence during the last five years.
  6. Medical insurance. You must have medical insurance to cover your stay in Spain.

Estimated time

The approximate time for the resolution of this procedure is three months from the submission of the application for the work permit.
