Obtaining the
visa for work experience in Spain

An internship visa in Spain allows non-EU nationals to reside in Spain to carry out training placements linked to their studies or academic programmes.

Requirements

In order to obtain a visa for study placements in Spain, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Admission to a Teaching Center. To have been admitted to an authorized teaching center in Spain for the completion of a full-time program, research or non-work internship.
  2. Non-work internships may be carried out in a company that has an agreement with an accredited educational institution.
  3. Have sufficient financial means to cover the costs of their stay and return and, if applicable, those of their family members, in accordance with the following amounts:
    • For the student or researcher: 7,200 euros per year.
    • For each of their family members: 5,400 euros more annually.

    Bank certificates and valuation of economic assets (real estate, shares, etc.) will be accepted to prove financial means.

  4. Medical insurance. To have a public or private health insurance arranged with an insurance company authorized to operate in Spain.
  5. Not suffer from any of the diseases that can have serious public health repercussions.
  6. Criminal record. Lack of criminal record in the countries of residence during the last five years. Apostilled documents must be presented.

Estimated time

The approximate processing time for the internship visa in Spain is approximately 1 month.

University students are entitled to work 30 hours per week. All other students are required to apply for employment.
