The Foreigner’s Identity Number (NIE) is a personal, unique and exclusive identifier. This number is essential to carry out various administrative and legal procedures in Spain.

Requirements

In order to obtain the NIE, foreigners must meet the following requirements:

  1. Not to be in an irregular situation in Spain. It is essential that the applicant is in a legal situation in the country.
  2. Reasons for the application. The specific reasons for applying for the NIE, whether economic, professional or social, must be communicated.

Once we have all the documentation, we must go in person on the day of the appointment to the National Police offices to obtain the NIE document.
