Arraigo social is a type of temporary residence permit granted to foreigners who have been in Spain irregularly for at least three years.

Requirements

In order to apply for arraigo social in Spain, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Proof of continuous residence in Spain for a minimum period of three years. To prove continuous residence, documentation must be provided, such as: census registration, medical visits, bank certificates, etc.
  2. To demonstrate arraigo social, one of the three requirements must be met:
    • Submit a report accrediting the arraigo social issued by the Generalitat of Catalonia or the corresponding City Council.
    • Have family ties with other legally residing foreigners (husband, children and parents).
    • Have an employment contract with the minimum wage.
  3. No criminal record in Spain and in their previous countries of residence during the last five years.
  4. Not to be prohibited from entering Spain.

Estimated time

The approximate time for the resolution of the application for social integration is three months from the date of submission of the application.

This procedure grants the right to reside and work in Spain.
